5 Pillar Meats
Who We Are

Born from the desire to encourage and nurture growth, 5 Pillar Meats of Farmville, VA, is the next step in the Abdus-Sabur Family’s life long mission to help their community through agriculture. The initial effort, Abdus-Sabur Homestead, was a small farm that grew fresh produce, dairy products and poultry for themselves and for their surrounding community. Gradually the business expanded to include honey and lamb at which time the name changed to Abdus-Sabur Farms. As the demand for lamb meat increased a spinoff of Abdus-Sabur Farms was born, Alec’s Acres, which concentrated specifically on the breeding of lamb meat.

During the global pandemic many large meat processing plants were closed, crippling the meat supply and leaving farmers with nowhere to take their livestock for slaughter. In response to that need, the Abdus-Sabur Family decided it was time to extend the Family business and provide a place where they and other producers in the region could take their livestock to be processed under the USDA guidelines.

On a personal note, 5 Pillar Meats founding family members have spent their private careers serving the public as educators, civil servants, members of the armed services, and working in the development of personal protection products in the private sector. The Abdus-Sabur family is dedicated to the betterment of humanity in their personal and professional lives, individually as well as collectively.
